Kumquat Bush

3 years ago my daughter had a new baby. While I was in her home visiting, her husband verbally abused her eldest child, which is his step-child. He and I had words over it. Later, at home I was sitting on my porch, reading the Bible, praying and crying about the incident. the Lord gave me a scripture in Psalm 37:8-11. I had never read this part of Psalm 37 before that day. It gave me great comfort to know that God heard my prayer, and saw the trouble in our family. It stated that (NIV) I should refrain from anger, not fret…and in a while the wicked would be no more!

About 15 feet from my porch is a kumquat bush that we had transplanted earlier and it had been looking dry and dead. None of the leaves were even green, but were crispy and brown. As I sat on the porch crying after reading the Psalm, I looked up through my near-sighted eyes, and saw something white on the bush. I stood and walked over to the bush. There, just as fresh as could be were 5 sweet smelling little blooms. I really rejoiced and cried then, for I knew that the 5 blooms represented the 5 members in my daughter’s family. I had witnessed a dreadful and stinky situation, but a dead looking bush had bloomed! This was a confirmation to me of the Word I had just read. I thanked God and claimed healing for our relationships. Within 3 days, the entire bush was covered with blossoms, emitting the sweet aroma of orange blossoms!

Through the months that followed, the relationship between my son-in-law and my grandchild has improved…line upon line; here a little there a little…and is continuing to blossom. He is now so lovable to me that it is astounding! So, I know beyond a doubt that Jehovah God still speaks through bushes!
