I was visiting my brother out in west Texas last year when this happened. The neighbor next door had three horses: a small Shetland pony, a medium size mare, and a large race horse. I love animals and wanted to touch one of them so I began coaxing the pony to the fence. He began walking toward me. When he got about half way across the corral, the large horse walked over and put his mouth on the pony’s back. The pony froze in his tracks. If a horse could look terrified, he did. They stood like this for several minutes, and then the pony turned and walked back across the corral. The large horse followed. When those two horses got to the other side where the third horse was standing, all three horses turned their haunches toward me. I felt like I was being shunned by them. What an odd experience!

I’m not sure exactly what this has to do with anything else on this site, just thought it was weird. Maybe someone that knows horse behavior better than I can shed some light on it.
