I Knew If They Were A Boy Or Girl

I always KNEW if I was having a boy or a girl. And for some reason, I am very in tune with picking up what other people are going to have.

It all started when I was 17 and pregnant with my first son. I kind of thought it might be better if I had a girl because I was going to be a single parent, and sons need their fathers. I was about 7 months along when I woke up one morning, and I just KNEW without any doubt that I was having a boy. They did not do routine ultrasounds back then so I had to wait and see. Derek was born July 10, 1984.

Korinne came along October 10, 1985, and I was so sure I was having a girl I took only pink baby clothes and dresses to the hospital. I remember my doctor telling me that he thought I was having a boy because the heartbeat was about 150 but I disagreed and said, “No, it’s a girl!”. He laughed and said, “Okay, moms usually know.”

I knew Shane was a boy, Karlie was a girl and Marshall was a boy before the ultrasounds confirmed it.

When I was pregnant with Shane, I worked at Boeing. A few of the ladies told me I should go over and talk to “Susan” because she was really good at predicting what people were going to have. I went over to her desk and arrived just as another pregnant lady did. “Susan” told us we were both going to have girls. She asked what I thought and I told her I thought we were both having boys. I was right.

One time I knew a relative I hadn’t talked to in a long time was pregnant when I touched the piece of paper that had a message written on it that she’d called.

Another time, I wondered if my friend had found out the sex of her baby yet and as I went to click on her picture to send her a message, I knew it was a boy. She confirmed that the ultrasound had showed a boy.

I’ve had tons of experiences like this over the last 23 years. Most of the time I know in an instant what someone is having, it just hits me. Other times, I have to wait until they are further along. Rarely, I do not pick up anything at all or I am wrong. It’s a fun gift!
